Island Soul Studios is blessed to have a wonderful array of gifted teachers in many different levels and types of yoga and movement to fit almost everyone's needs. Listed below are the classes available during the week.

Core N' Restore 

Gentle Yoga

5:30-6:45 pm

Begins September 9th

Expansive, relaxing restorative poses are integrated into a gentle class that focuses on increasing hip and pelvic stability and alignment. This balanced class can help you increase strength in addition to decreasing stress. Props and sandbags support all poses. First class free for locals!  Drop-in $10-15.

Tara Moghadam, E-RYT 500, has taught yoga since 1995. Her therapeutic classes draw from Iyengar, Vinyasa, Amrit and Kundalini yoga as well as Yoga of Awareness for Cancer, Chronic Pain, and Seniors as offered through Duke University and Oregon Health and Science University and Yoga for Arthritis as developed by John Hopkins University. Yoga for everyone to nurture the body, mind and spirit. Combining yoga poses (asanas) with breathing techniques (pranayama), this is a gentle but thorough class with the goal of a healthy body and a clear, calm mind. Bella’s students gain flexibility, strength and balance. Classes begin with a short meditation and gentle warm up stretches, then progress through a series of sitting, standing and supine poses before winding down into a restorative pose at the conclusion of class. Modifications and options are always offered to make the class suitable for both beginners to more advanced students. All are welcome!

Bella French has been practicing yoga since 1997, studying with some of Seattle’s best yoga instructors both at Eight Limbs Yoga Studio and Shakti Vinyasa Studio for 16 years before moving to San Juan Island in 2013. She has studied Hatha, Iyengar, and Ashtanga yoga and completed a certificate course with Duke Integrative Medicine, focusing on safe and effective yoga for older adults. Most influenced by Iyengar and Vinyasa yoga, Bella believes that yoga benefits everyone regardless of fitness levels. Incorporating music, meditation and asanas, Bella's classes create a calming and uplifting yoga experience. Her supportive teaching style meets students at their personal level to provide a class that is safe and comfortable for beginners, and challenging enough for more advanced students.

Children's Yoga Calm

   Thursdays

      3:15-4:15 pm

For children in grades K-4

$40 per month (4 classes) or

$12 per drop-in class

(Limited Scholarship Support Available)


Begins October 1st


Give your child the gift of nurturing relaxation through Yoga Calm. Youth will learn to deepen and focus their breath to manage emotions, practice a variety of yoga postures, and develop healthy relationship skills during both partner and group yoga activities focusing on social/emotional skills development. Older youth will be given leadership roles. Wear comfortable clothing.


Yoga Calm is an award-winning, K-12 wellness curriculum used by thousands of educators and therapists. Simple yoga-based activities, mindfulness exercises and social skills-building games help children improve their focus, learning readiness, behavioral skills, physical health and emotional stability. Yoga Calm helps benefits children’s overall health as well as their academic performance.


Alice became a Certified Yoga Calm Instructor in 2011. She is also WA State Certified Teacher with a MEd and supports the empowerment of youth in a variety of ways. She as been a FHES Substitute Teacher and has offered enrichment/after school classes in art, yoga, dance, nature exploration, rites of passage and community building for over 20 years in San Juan County.

Deterioration and injury to the hips can cause havoc on our ability to function in the world This gentle Hatha yoga class is designed to strengthen postural alignment and joint integrity with a practice that balances gentle repetitive movement and a deep exploration of our bodies' alignment. An ideal class for beginners as well as for those struggling with an aging, illness, or injury. This class blends the soft flow of Vinyasa Yoga with the supported structural form of Iyengar yoga. First class free!!! Drop-in $10-15.
